Ahmed Haamyn Hussain is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SunCore Energy, driving the company’s vision to make solar energy accessible, reliable, and transformative for communities and businesses in the Maldives. Guided by a strong belief in sustainability and innovation, he has positioned SunCore Energy at the forefront of the nation’s renewable energy movement.
His professional experience spans multiple industries, from corporate insurance and risk management to ventures in construction and infrastructure. This breadth of expertise has equipped him with a unique ability to design resilient strategies that balance growth, efficiency, and long-term value creation. As a professional member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), Haamyn actively engages with a global network of renewable energy leaders, ensuring SunCore Energy remains aligned with international standards and emerging best practices. Abdulla Naseer

With over 16 years in solar energy, Abdulla Naseer is one of the early pioneers of renewable energy in the Maldives. As Director of Projects at SunCore Energy, he leads complex solar initiatives from design to delivery, with a focus on reliability, sustainability, and national impact.
As Director of Projects at SunCore Energy, Abdulla Naseer stands among the very first pioneers of solar energy in the Maldives. Beginning his journey in 2009, he has been at the forefront of introducing and expanding renewable energy solutions across the country. With more than 16 years of experience and global exposure, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver projects with precision, innovation, and integrity.
From the early installation of solar panels in F. Magoodhoo to the landmark deployment at Villa College in Malé, Naseer has led projects that shaped the nation’s renewable energy landscape. His international engagements have further strengthened his ability to design and implement solar solutions in diverse climates, making him a versatile and forward-thinking leader in the field.
He is also the driving force behind two national milestones: the Maldives’ first net-metering system and its first carbon credit certificate, awarded to Villa for solar projects he implemented and managed.
At SunCore Energy, Naseer continues this pioneering legacy by leading projects that set new benchmarks for reliability, sustainability, and impact in the Maldivian energy sector.

Ahmed Rifshan is a licensed lawyer and public notary with extensive experience across public service, private practice, and corporate advisory. He began his career as a Legal Officer at the High Court of the Maldives and later worked as an Associate at S&A Lawyers LLP, gaining exposure to complex litigation, arbitration, and corporate transactions. He has since acted as legal counsel in high-value disputes (including SIAC arbitration), advised on cross-border finance and security enforcement, and supported multinational clients in the Maldives. Beyond legal practice, he leads compliance and structuring for ventures spanning travel, digital commerce, and construction. His focus is on building legally sound frameworks for sustainable growth, with particular expertise in contracts, regulatory affairs, and corporate governance.

Ali Ashfaag
Head of Climate & Sustainability
At SunCore Energy, Ali Ashfaag leads Climate & Sustainability, applying his meteorological expertise to ensure projects are both environmentally responsible and climate-resilient. His role integrates climate science, environmental stewardship, and data-driven insights into SunCore’s renewable strategy.
Ashfaag holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Hydrometeorology from the Russian State Hydrometeorological University in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This academic foundation gives him strong expertise in atmospheric sciences, climate processes, and hydrodynamic systems. In addition to his role at SunCore, Ashfaag continues to serve as a Meteorological Technician at the Gan Regional Weather Service, contributing to weather monitoring and forecasting operations that support aviation, marine, and community services. Skilled in coding, automation, and large-scale data analysis, he brings modern analytics to sustainability management. Ashfaag helps ensure that every SunCore Energy solution not only delivers power but also protects the environment and strengthens climate resilience.

Mohamed Hafiz
Chief Financial Officer
Mohamed Hafiz, CFO of SunCore Energy, steers the company’s financial strategy to ensure growth, stability, and long-term sustainability. He oversees compliance, financial planning, and risk management to support SunCore’s expansion in the renewable sector.
Alongside his role at SunCore, Hafiz currently serves as Assistant Director of Finance at a Red Sea resort in Saudi Arabia, contributing to one of the Middle East’s flagship hospitality projects. His experience also spans the hospitality industry in the Maldives, where he developed expertise in financial reporting, payroll, reconciliation, accounts payable, and cost control. A CIMA Managerial & Strategic Level qualified professional, Hafiz is known for his structured approach and collaborative leadership style. By combining financial discipline with vision, Hafiz secures the foundation for SunCore Energy’s long-term growth and sustainability.

As Sales Director, Mohamed Waris drives SunCore Energy’s growth by building strong partnerships and expanding solar adoption across the Maldives. He focuses on delivering tailored solutions to corporate clients, resorts, SMEs, and residential customers.
Waris built his career at Solarelle Insurance, rising through roles as Sales Executive, Assistant Sales Manager, and Sales Manager before becoming Business Development Manager. This progression equipped him with deep expertise in customer engagement, negotiations, and structured sales processes — skills he now applies in the renewable energy sector. Holding a CMII certification from The Malaysian Insurance Institute, Waris blends professional rigor with a trust-first approach. He works closely with SunCore’s operations and technical teams to align solutions with client goals, timelines, and sustainability outcomes. Abdulla Shimaaz is a highly experienced electrical engineer with extensive expertise in power generation, transmission, and distribution systems across the Maldives. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India, and has over a decade of hands-on experience in the energy sector. As Chief Electrical Engineer at STELCO, Shimaaz has led the design, installation, and maintenance of LV, MV, and HV networks, generator synchronization systems, and major grid interconnection projects, including 132kV transmission and substation developments. His technical leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the Greater Malé grid and advancing renewable energy integration. With his deep knowledge of grid operations and renewable energy systems, Shimaaz brings valuable expertise to the Solar PV team as an external consultant, supporting the company in delivering innovative, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.
